The Adult Development Department located on des Seigneurs street in Little Burgundy provides various educational and training programs with the aim of developing and strengthening life and work skills among our community members and program participants. We are committed to supporting adults in all aspects of their development and success. One way in which we achieve this, is by countering isolation and providing a sense of community by offering a safe welcoming space where people can drop-in to use the computers, socialize, read the newspaper, and have a snack & coffee.
Our Pre-employment program helps participants develop new skills and keep up with the demands of an ever-changing and competitive job market. We also offer computer instruction, language training and seniors activities. Come by to visit us, we look forward to meeting you.
See how we are making a difference!
I started coming to the AD Department in 2012 in order to use the computers since I didn’t have internet access at home. I’ve been coming here regularly since then. I learned how to use computer programs here like Word, Excel and PowerPoint, I took business training, I made new friendships. I feel at home here.
When I first started to come to the Adult Development Department, I was learning how to do Excel which I didn’t know how. The reason I come to the Centre now is to go on the computer and to also print. It gets me out of the house which staying home can get depressing. I like to be out and around people. The workers are very helpful.
We offer part-time beginners and intermediate French classes. The cost per session is $80 and $40 for seniors. For more information and to register call: 514 931-6265.
The Pre-employment program is a full-time 6-month training that offers French, computer, life skills and job search instruction. We also provide individual one-on-one assistance, help each person come up with an action plan and ultimately find an internship and work. We offer 2 sessions per year; one that starts in early September and the other in February.
