Anne Johnson Fish Memorial Award (AJFA)

Scholarship Application 2026

The Tyndale St-Georges Foundation is pleased to once again offer scholarships through the Anne Johnson Fish Memorial Fund. Residents of Little Burgundy who are students enrolled in full-time educational programs in secondary 3, 4 or 5 or post-secondary schools are eligible to apply for an award. First priority is given to students who are participants in or have graduated from the Tyndale St-Georges High School Perseverance Program or After-School Program.

The Fund provides financial support to enable and encourage members of the Little Burgundy community to continue their formal studies in secondary and post-secondary education. Note that applicants are required to apply on an annual basis and that there are no multi-year awards.

Applications open on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 and close on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The selection committee will meet over the summer and all applicants will be notified by August 2026.

Please note: this year we will be awarding scholarships according to academic merit. We are also privileging students who are returning to school, who are volunteers or staff at Tyndale St-Georges, or studying in the trades or a technical Cegep program.

3 Essay Questions

Please choose one of the following questions and write a minimum 250 to maximum 500 word essay:

1. Values & Lived Experience

At Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre, we are guided by values: Respect for Past, Present, and Future; Breaking Cycles through Empowerment; Leading with Integrity; Fostering Community and Care for One Another; and Practicing Inclusion in All Its Forms. After reading through these values, choose one that resonates with you the most and describe an experience where you were guided by that value.

2. Challenge & Resilience

Over the last few years, many students have faced disruptions or challenges that have affected their learning or well-being. What is one challenge that has made school or life more difficult for you, and how have you responded to it (or how are you working to move forward)?

3. Future Thinking – Education

If you could design a course that every high school student should take, what would it be and why? What would students learn in this course, and how would it better prepare them for life after high school?

4. Current Events & Critical Thinking

In Quebec, laws such as Bill 21 and Bill 96 have sparked important conversations about identity, language, and inclusion. What is your understanding of one of these laws, and how do you think it affects people in your community?
